Privacy policy

Build A Golfer operates Build A Golfer. For anything in this policy, or any privacy question at all, email hello@buildagolfer.app.

There is no sign-up, and the game has no backend database. What exists is:

• On-device gameplay data. Your build history, personal bests, streak, badges, and settings are stored in your browser's local storage and IndexedDB. This data stays on your device; we never receive a copy of it, and we cannot see it.
• Standard hosting logs. Our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes ordinary web request logs — IP address, user agent, requested path — for the operation and security of the site, the same as any web server. We do not use these logs to build a profile of you.
• Optional analytics. If enabled, Google Analytics records anonymous, aggregate usage events, gated behind a consent prompt where consent is legally required.
• Optional advertising. If the ad rail is enabled, our advertising partner (currently Google AdSense) may set cookies and process identifiers to serve and measure ads, again gated behind consent where required. See Cookies for the full detail.
• Anything you email us. If you contact us, we keep the message and your email address only for as long as it takes to answer you.

Hosting logs and on-device storage exist to run the game and keep it fast and secure — a legitimate interest that doesn't require your consent. Analytics and advertising exist to understand usage and to fund a free game, and run only with your consent where the law requires it. Support emails are processed because you sent them to us.

We don't sell personal data, and we don't have a database of accounts to sell in the first place. The only parties who ever see anything are our hosting provider (Cloudflare, for the logs above) and, only if you've enabled and consented to them, Google Analytics and Google AdSense. We disclose information only if legally required to.

The site is served from a global edge network, and any analytics or advertising provider you consent to may process data outside your country. Where that applies, those providers rely on their own standard legal safeguards for international transfers (for example, standard contractual clauses or an equivalent data-transfer framework).

On-device gameplay data stays until you clear it, in your browser's own settings or from Profile → Reset — nothing about it expires on our end, because it never reaches our end. Hosting logs are retained only briefly, for security and abuse prevention. Analytics data, when enabled, follows Google's standard retention windows. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to resolve the conversation.

Because there's no account and no server-side profile of you, most data-protection rights are already satisfied by design: you can see everything the game has stored (it's in Profile), take a copy of it (Export), or erase it completely (Reset) whenever you like, without asking us. For anything that touches hosting logs, analytics, or advertising — access, correction, deletion, objection, or a complaint to your local data-protection authority — email hello@buildagolfer.app and we'll respond within a reasonable time, consistent with applicable law (for example, GDPR's one-month response window or CCPA's forty-five days).

Build A Golfer is a general-audience game, not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has contacted us with personal information, email us and we'll delete it.

The site is served over an encrypted connection, and because there is no account database, there is no password or personal profile to breach. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but the architecture here — nothing sensitive leaves your device — is the strongest safeguard we can offer.

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the effective date above. Continuing to use Build A Golfer after a change means you accept the updated policy.
